DrAwinG CoNTeST!!!!

At my internship they have a promotional contest for kids to win tickets to Beauty and the Beast and the Wizard of Oz. The contest is simple-- be under 10 and color between the lines on a picture. We choose the best one and they win four tickets. The theatre really shouldn't have entrusted me to make the decision. Here are my winners (in rank order) and comments!

4. Brooke age 4 in Milbury


She picked two awesome colors. She looked at the black lines and said "FUCK THOSE LINES I CAN DO WHAT I WANT!" This girl is going to be so awesome. I see greatness in her future. Brook's work is influenced heavily by Japanese screen printing. C+

3. Timmy age 3 in Sutton:

Now, Timmy didn't include an artist's statement, but I would bet it would be something along the lines of "I wanted my piece to reflect the way society chooses to typecast the "beast." He bears the burden of being a pariah-- set apart to wallow in shame while everyone else steps on him to assuage their own inferiority complex. Beauty is not obscured by the cloud surrounding Beast and is attempting to see beyond the veil of prejudice. This 'seeing beyond' is what I attempt with my art. Growing up in Sutton, I identify with the Beast's hardship." Good work Timmy. B+

WINNER 1! Raven age 8 in Worcester:

Ok. At first this may seem normal... but LOOK at Beauty's chest! Is that how Raven thinks Beauty would dress!?!? Holy fuck. What have we come to? 2009!! Beauty is totally slutting it up. Anyhow, it is hysterical that a 8 year old girl saw the picture that way, and for this she should be commended. I hope Raven doesn't have issues when she is older. A+
