SHROOMS

Ah the mushroom. One can do many a thing with such a fungal treat. One may cook them, purchase them from the supermarket or local drug dealer, achieve enlightenment upon their consumption, but MOST riveting of them all, one may HUNT THEM!!!!!!!! Pieow pieow (sound of a little pistol).
Sarah Cheung and I traversed amongst the Oregon scenic finery today, past the glorious Mt. Hood and heart-stopping cliffs of highway 26 to search for the mysterious, the ephemeral, the elusive Morel Mushroom.
Nooooow this here mushroom looks like a mixture between a brain and a pinecone and is VERY desired amongst foodie-michaelpollanloving-gourmet-fungalmaniacs and no wonder cause THEY WERE FUCKING HARD TO FIND.
This mushroom, nicknames of which include the "hickory chicken" the "dryland fish" and "miracles", looks EXACTLY like a pinecone and is THE EXACT same color as the dirt. This mushroom is SO SNEAKY and very smart in its development of defense mechanisms against the devouring upperchainers (re: aforementioned foodies).
We walked around with our eyes peeled to the ground for hours (I am convinced this has had some negative effect on my eyesight) and ultimately came away with less than 25 compiled among three people....not...an amazing or rewarding turnout.
The best part was my mother's friends dog Junebug who was SOOO cute and at one point fell in the river and caused me quite a chuckle!!

However...there is one thing that has stayed with since this afternoon....a certain inexplicable magic felt whence you discover their glorious meaty beacony selves hidden amongst the duff...these mushrooms are magical. These mushrooms...are...mag..i.cal.......

OH P.S. don't drink with alcohol (did you know that?!!?! some mushrooms don't mix with the alchy!!! wierrd).
