Police State **** *******

Hello,
I am writing this letter to inform you of the insanity that is going on in the place in which I work. Many of you know that I work at a local coffee shop. The name of this establishment that will remain nameless as the owner routinely googles the name to see what comes up. However, I thought it imperative to inform you what has been going on of late.

It is pretty common knowledge that the shop has several cameras around. These cameras are, in part, in order to record a possible robbery. However, they go past this function as well. The cameras are positioned in a way to ensure the employees are recorded as well, going so far as to put a camera in the bakery section of the store. This, apparently, was not enough, however. This past Sunday I went into work early. When I arrived I was informed by my co-worker that the owner has now implemented a live feed from the video cameras to her home. One can only infer that this is a measure to be able to watch employees at anytime because this bitch's got some trust issues.

There was also a little incident about the schedule being taken by accident so I was dictated a new one over the phone. While doing this it was discovered that the manager was under the impression I would be covering a shift on Wednesday. I told the owner that this could not be true as I would never say I could cover a Wednesday shift as I have a screening EVERY Wednesday. The owner then made a comment about how awful this mix up was and that if I hadn't shown up to "my" shift on Wednesday I would have been fired. So in short I would be fired for not showing up to a shift I was not responsible for. She went on complaining for another 15 minutes or so, meanwhile my fellow co-worker is in the front all by himself with a line out the door.

I was going to cover a shift this Friday night from 5-close (around 11:30-11:45). However, because no one could cover the shift rom 2-5 I will now be working from 2:30-11:45 on Friday night. You guys should totally come visit me!!! YAY!!!!



Now I wouldn't want people to think that I remain in this terrible, terrible environment for nothing. I get decent money (in tips not wages, silly) and except for the owner the place is pretty sweet. Also I stick it to the man in little ways such as drinking lots of espresso, not giving a fuck about anything, and keeping my nose-ring in when I was explicitly told it was not allowed and to remove it.
