The Terrible-ness That Comes with Being ALONE

So earlier this afternoon, around noon, I was sitting in the epicenter by myself trying to do some work. Then, all of a sudden some DUDE comes over and puts his stuff down. I have never seen this guy before, he does not say hello or even acknowledge me. He then walks away in the direction of the bathrooms. I am left waiting for his inevitable return and wondering what I should do. Should I leave and give up therefore lose the battle of the epicenter? Or should I stay and fight? That question was answered for me when the man came back and sat down. He did not pull out books indicating a long stay. He did not try to engage me in conversation.

He fell asleep. This was not a spur of the moment nap, however. This was PREMEDITATED. He sat down and pulled his hood over his eyes and fell into a DEEP, DEEP sleep. I was at a loss. Not only did a stranger come over to sit in my space (when they were plenty of empty seats nearby) but he fell asleep!

I tried to get back to my reading but I just couldn't do it. Film theory no longer had the intrigue that once pulled me so, all I could think about was this man and his nerve! But then Adam K came over and we talked about movies a lot. The dude woke up and started doing work...we were still talking about movies. Then he eventually got up and left.

BE WEARY OF SITTING ALONE MY FRIENDS, BE WEARY

  1. The same thing happened to me. Only before he pulled his hood down to fall asleep, the guy ate a sandwich chewing with his mouth wide open. Shai came over once he was asleep. And the guy slept and slept. It was probably the same person.
